The Wild Tulip Festival will take place in Polemi village on 29 March 2026 from 11:00 to 17:00. The event will be held at the “Metochi” Cultural Centre.
In spring, the landscapes of Polemi are filled with vibrant colours as wild tulips (Tulipa agenensis) appear among the green fields. This species is considered endangered; however, it grows in abundance in this part of the island. The blooming period lasts only from the last week of March to the first week of April, making it the ideal time for the festival.
The festival welcomes guests with traditional loukoumades – deep-fried dough balls dipped in syrup. Visitors can stroll through the stalls, taste wine from local wineries and enjoy traditional Cypriot sweets and delicacies.
Visitors may walk towards the tulip field in the surrounding area of the village to admire the striking combination of red flowers and green vegetation. Picking tulips is strictly forbidden, as they are a protected species whose numbers are rapidly declining.
The festival programme includes various activities, dancing and singing performances by schoolchildren, craft demonstrations and activities for children.
